The best and most amazing weekend of our lives trip.... (AKA - Duluth Trip) : So I had decided that I wanted to ask Kristi to marry me.....I first asked her parents for their permission (they were ecstatic) and then worked the proposal into a little trip to Duluth we had already planned. We walked around the waterfalls for a bit, and when we got the perfect spot, I proposed. Obviously that is the very condensed version, but you get the point. These pictures are from that trip, which includes an overturned semi on a dry road in sunny weather( don't ask me how it happened). It was interesting watching cars go at the same speed as you in the same direction on the wrong side of the road (apparently the got fed up of waiting for the accident to get cleared).
After hiking around Goosberry Falls, we visited Split Rock Lighthouse, and got some beautiful pictures even though it was really foggy. After our adventures we retreated to Two Harbors for dinner at the Black Woods Grill, and a night in our boxcar suite.
On the way back to Iowa we stopped in Duluth for some lunch at Grandma's Bar and Grill, and checked an ore boat passing under the lift bridge. One last stop at Thomson Park gave us some breathtaking views of Duluth, since it was so foggy when we came in you couldn't see anything.
In conclusion, a trip we will never forget.

Britt Draft Horse Show 9.3 and 9.4 : YEEEEEEEE HAWWWW Horses were the animal of choice this weekend (even though we did pick up a dog in the process) This was my first year at the Britt Draft Horse Show. Basically it is the largest draft horse show in the country, with teams from all over the country. If you didn't know, draft horses are the larger type of horses usually used to pull wagons and carts and such. Kristi has been in the show many times, since her grandpa is one of the few people anywhere that has draft horses that you can ride. (They are very nice horses, but honestly, it feels like your riding a 50 gallon oil drum...)
Kristi, her sister Courtney, and her grandpa Ron were the flag team for both days, and yes, I took the pictures. Unless I am in one of course... :)
Katy, Kristi's other sister came for a day to give us some comic relief, as horses can be a pain in the butt sometimes.
The first day went well, with the only problem being Court's and Kristi's hats falling off, so the second day they duct taped them on to their heads, well, at least Kristi did. (Hers stayed on....tee hee)
We had two beautiful and warm days, which made it a great time for all.
By the way, the dog you see us washing is Buddy. We decided to give him a good home at our apt, but he kinda got sick. We wern't able to stay home and take care of him so he is back in Lake Mills now, happy as ever, in a heated garage, with all of his friends. :)

Kylie and Nate's Wedding : Our friends, Nate and Kylie decided to tie the knot, and we were there. Actually, Kristi was a bridesmaid, and I was one of the videographers (Scott was the other)/ Ushers. The wedding was beautiful, and we all had a great time at the reception. The only drawback was the fact that it was 98ish outside with 97% humidity, honestly you felt like you were swimming outside. The couple didn't let that stop them one bit, and had a great time.

Ray's Surprise Birthday Party : My sister Alyssa decided to throw a surprise 30th birthday party for her husband ray. Well, Alyssa is not very good at keeping surprises secret, so this was a BIG success since Ray had no clue anything was going on. Aly had invited all of her and Ray's friends, and family over for the occasion. It was a blast. The kicker came when Alyssa unveiled Phil, Rays best friend who lives in Denmark. Ray was stunnned, and the party was a complete success.

Towers Implosion 7.19.05 : This one speaks for itself. We have a few "older" high-rise dormitories on campus, and on this day, two of them were scheduled to be demolished. There were a few thousand people on hand to witness the event, and all I can say is, boy that was loud...
I put my camera on a high-speed shooting mode and got some nice shots of the buildings falling.

Moonlighters 7.8.05 / Celebration Iowa 7.9.05 : While Kristi was travelling to California with Gillian, I went up to visit her family for the Lake Mills July Jubilee. Her dad is in the Moonlighters, a band that was playing one of its final shows that night. The band does mostly oldies and could always draw a large crowd.

The Celebration Iowa concert was a group of Iowa highschoolers that go around the state performing a song and dance/ jazz show. They were really good, and it goes to show that there is still a lot of talent in high school music programs.

4th of July Fireworks 2005 : My first 4th of July fireworks in a loooooong time. Honestly I am always doing soming that keeps me from seeing some fireworks. These ones over Clear Lake were AMAZING. Got to spend some time with Kristi's family that weekend, and we had a great time.
The pictures of Kristi writing are time lapse with her and a sparkler. They came out pretty nicely.

Lake Mills Arrest : This was definitely an interesting day. The story (from my point of view) goes like this...
We were at a brunch with Kristi's family and her grandpa got a phone call from the highway patrol. Apparently one of his renters decided to go beat up some guy with a metal pipe, hit a police officer, and run home. The guy, Larry, then barracaded himself in his house. Negotiations were not working, so they called up Ron (Kristi's grandpa) who came over to talk to him. Larry still didn't budge, so they decided to form a team, and go in. After waiting for a few min, police officers from all around Northern Iowa began top show up. Apparently it was the North Iowa Drug Taskforce. They formed a line, rushed the door, threw a flashbang into the house, and then rushed the house. A few min later they came out with Larry in handcuffs.
A few of these pictures were used in the Lake Mills Graphic and the Mason City Globe Gazette.
Also, on a random note, Larry had a dog named Buddy, whom was put in jail. (The police didn;t know what to do with him) Ron "bailed" him out and he is currently living in their garage. (He was at our apt for a week, but that didn't work out so well....

Lake Mills Sunrise (Video Shoot) 6.1.05 : I took these pictures while doing a video shoot just outside of Lake Mills. The video called for a sunrise over a farm field. I was very worried about cloud cover, but got lucky when the clouds broke just on the horizon to give me a beautiful sunrise. Kristi's sister Courtney even came with me at 5am while I was takeing these shots. Thanks for keeping me company Court.

Chase 6.4.05 : Went on a successful one day chase trip with Andy and Sean. We saw this tornado somewhere in Northeast Kansas. We had to decided between some better looking cells to the south, and this one to the north. This one cerainly paid off. As far as I know, this tornado didn't do much damage (thank God) but some other ones on this day did.

Clear Lake Sunset 5.28.05 : Just took some nice pictures of the sunset over Clear Lake one day. Nothing terribly special. A very nice day of course.

Colts Memorial Day Performance : This was my first year not marching in Drum Corps, so I decided to go with Scott and check out the Colts Memorial Day Parade/ Concert. Since I am a pit veteran, I took mostly shots of the pit. Some old faces, some new. Go Colts!

Kristi's Graduation : One of those VERY important days in life. Kristi FINALLY graduated. (I shouldn't talk, I am going to have taken the same amount of time as her by the time I am done with school. Her parents, grandparents, and my parents came down to celebrate the very special occasion. Kristi just did the graduation for her individual college, and not the mass Iowa State graduation. I don't get that luxury, so I am going to go through the 3 hour mass one when I graduate....one catch, Kristi's dad promised he would bring an air horn and blow it when my name was called....I am holding him to that! :)
Also, since Kristi waited until the last moment to book a restaurant, we got the Open Flame, a steak joint just north of Ames. Great food none the less.

The New Apartment : Well, we finally got an apartment, its brand spanking new, so we will be sure to treat it well.
